So my friend asked me for a picture of his necro. I had big ideas that ended up being too big for my digital work. I wanted it to be something awesome, so I decided to take it to acrylic.

I wanted to give him a little idea of what I was working on so I did up a quick digital sketch of the lower middle portion of the painting that I would be working on today.

And tonight I painted it up.

Yeah, it's got big differences. The point being, his character spent a long time trapped in the catacombs, and in that time he found old necromancy books and learned all he could just passing the time. I wanted this to seem a bit more obsessive than mere study. Necromancy does that to people.

Anyway, just a small piece of the bigger picture. Don't want to give too much away before it's done.

this looks really cool already - the muscles, hair and cloth folds are great!

I laughed abour your post in the contest thread about being too poor to afford such a thing and was wondering whether you'd like to art-trade me some day? I know you're busy and so am I, so no pressure

Absolutely, I love your work. Today is my last normal class day before finals, and then I'm off for a month. I would like to do more GW things while I'm out of school. I think there are a couple people here who are waiting patiently for that to happen.

I was in fact inspired by your contest entry to give the style a try (beyond the picture for Tender Wolf). If I can ever get a camera that takes good enough pictures, I'll show you what I did. I just thought "Y'know, that's a style I've never tried and I really like it." Hopefully it gets me a decent grade this week.

I was always in awe of the fabulous pics Starr made of our alliance members. When Starr created the picture of my Elementalist she sent me some "lines" as a teaser. I was astounded at how beautiful she made Witch Hazel look. I thought I would share them with you all, as underneath the finished piece, there really are some lines that capture the soul of the character.

We loves you gurl!

Hiya Isis. Didn't realize the sketch was such a hit. I'm glad I got a chance to practice with everyone this summer, and hoping I can do it again soon.

Morag, thanks. I'll find out next Tuesday if it worked out

very nice drawings from you Starr, you have to work abit more on coloring tech though, it seems like you overuse dodge/burn at times or you just need to play more with the brush settings , suppose you using photoshop. Overall i like your drawings, keep it up.

I admit, I do abuse the heck out of them. The golem skull for sure. I actually switched from my laptop to my desktop in the middle of this which I won't do again. I've been testing some different techniques, but I'm still not quite satisfied with them to use on someone else's character. Thank you for the insight though.

1) Love the Eye of the North outpost setting behind it.
2) Love to pose
3) Love the snow - am I the only one that gets reminded of the slow-mo walking scenes in movies where rain splashes all over the characters feet?
4) LOVE the coloring
5) Is there something NOT to love about it?

I can see what was meant by both Starr and Daniel about this being too good.

Thank you

Yes, I give Daniel most of the credit for epicness, because it was rather flat in the earlier version. The movement of the legs and all the nifty accoutrements were all added/changed for the final version. The original probably would have been okay, but the guidance was a great help and a huge factor in the balance and flow of the final piece. He's got a great eye.
